It’s that wonderful time of the year again. It’s Oktoberfest time, and you don’t have to go far to enjoy the festivities! Here are 7 festivals in the Columbia Metro where you can put on your lederhosen.

This traditional event began in Munich, Germany, back in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Bavarian Crown Prince Louis and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Over time, it has grown into the world’s largest Volkfest, featuring beer, traditional Bavarian music, shows, parades, and German attire.

Columbia Craft Oktoberfest | Saturday, Oct. 7 | celebrate with The Wurst Wagen, Live Music from The Regulars, and plenty of fun activities and the release of the new Festbier and other surprise beers!

Newberry Oktoberfest | Saturday, Oct. 7 | This free event is Newberry’s largest annual event and features live music all day, a best traditional dress contest, and wandering accordionist Bob Wilusz in full German clothing.

Bierkeller Columbia | Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16 | Bierkeller has that Oktoberfest feel year-round, but the new German inspired bar will host its first official festivities this year at the new Canalside location.
